Mr. Swenarton donated part of his first sales to the American Red Cross in the wake of 9/11 and has been actively supporting several charities since. Here are some of the causes about which he cares so much:
Aids/HIV Awarenessis one to which Joseph has given much time. He co-chaired the Red Ribbon Ball in Naples, FL in 2006, 2007 and 2008, and set fund raising records. Joseph also donates to the GMHC, (Gay Men's Health Crisis) on the national level. GMHC is another AIDS organization that does worthwhile work on behalf of those suffering with the disease. The Humane Society at both the local and national level, is also one of Joseph's favorite charities. The love of animals runs in his family, as his late father was very generous to the National Humane Society as well. The HRC (Human Rights Campaign), The American Heart Association and American Lung Association are also on Joseph's list of organizations that benefit from the sale of his works. Joseph's father and mother both died from lung disease, so it is very important to him to support this specific organization. UNICEF and The Smile Train can also count on Joseph's continued support, as well as Oprah's Angel Network, which, which he likes donating to because they lend support to so many causes.
